Okay, But How Heavy Was It?
You caught a good fish.
Naturally, the first question is:
“How much do you think it weighs?”
And naturally, your fishing buddy says:
“Easy. Ten pounds.”
It’s probably five.
That’s where this little Fish Weight Calculator comes in.
No scale needed. Just grab a tape measure.
Measure the fish from the tip of the nose to the tip of the tail, then measure the girth around the widest part of the body.
Pick the fish species, enter those two numbers, and you’ll get an estimated weight.
That’s it.
No complicated formulas. No standing there with a calculator while the fish wonders why it ever bit your lure.
Don’t know the girth?
You can still enter the length and get a rough estimate. It won’t be as good as using both measurements, but sometimes “roughly this big” is all you need.
And if you’re planning to release the fish, that’s really the point.
Measure it, get your estimate, take the photo, and let the fish get back to its day.
Just remember: it’s an estimate.
Fish are built differently, seasons change, bellies get fuller, and fishermen have been known to round up.
Especially fishermen.
