Classroom Name Tags & Labels

Paste your class list, pick a name tag format, and print. Names stay readable, duplicate names stay separate, and every piece has a measured size.

Your entries stay in this browser. Nothing is saved until you choose Save on this device. No student accounts, uploads, or connection to old tool data.

PNG pages use 300 pixels per inch. Multiple downloads may require browser permission. PDFs contain high-resolution page images; text is not selectable.

Print at 100% / Actual size, with browser headers and footers off. Check one sheet before printing a whole class. Non-Latin text uses your device’s fallback fonts; inspect the preview. PDF and PNG keep the appearance shown on this device.

From a list to classroom-ready name tags

  1. Paste one name per line, import a CSV with mapped columns, or start blank. You can edit each name and give it a preferred name.
  2. Choose a folded tent, flat nameplate, or smaller supply label. The full name and optional class or number can appear beneath the preferred name.
  3. Check the page count and size, then print or download. Cut along solid lines and fold tents along the dashed middle line. The two faces are intentionally opposite ways up before folding.

Printing and privacy questions

Can I use Letter or A4?

Yes. Choose your paper before printing. The preview and all downloads use the same page plan. Use Actual size rather than Fit to page for measured pieces.

Are entries uploaded or shared with the old tools?

No. This tool uses a separate, optional local library. It does not read, migrate, change, or delete old projects. Opening a website can still involve ordinary website requests; local processing does not make browsing anonymous.

What if a name is too long?

Names may wrap to two lines. The tool stops rather than shrinking them indefinitely or cutting them off. Use a shorter preferred name or a larger piece. Heavy accents and non-Latin scripts should be checked on your device before a class set.

Import a class list for name tags

Make a whole class set without typing every name into the page. Download the name tag CSV template, which contains 12 fictional students. Replace the examples with your own class list; add or remove rows as needed.

What goes in each column?

Download, fill out, and import

  1. Open the template in Excel, Google Sheets, or another spreadsheet editor. Keep the first row of column names. Put one student on each row and remove any sample students you do not need.
  2. Save or download the edited sheet as CSV UTF-8 (comma-delimited), ending in .csv. An Excel workbook (.xlsx), PDF, Word document, or photo cannot be imported directly.
  3. Choose Import CSV above. In Review before replacing, match Full name, Preferred name, Class, and Number to the correct columns. Choose Do not use for any optional column you left out. Different column headings are fine when you match them yourself.
  4. Check the record count and first five entries, then choose Apply previewed import. This replaces the current list; it does not add to it. Cancel leaves your current entries unchanged.
  5. Choose folded tents, flat nameplates, or supply labels. Check the preview, then print at Actual size or download the pages. You can still edit each name after importing.

Import help and keeping your work

Use up to 100 students in a file no larger than 10 MB. Each field supports up to 240 characters, but very long printed names may need a shorter preferred name or a larger tag. Duplicate names remain separate students. If an import reports a missing name or a CSV line error, correct that row in your spreadsheet and export the CSV again. Preserve accents with UTF-8, and let the spreadsheet quote commas rather than editing CSV punctuation by hand.

CSV keeps the names, not the design. To reuse your words, fonts, positions, format, and paper settings, choose Export project. Reopen that compatible backup through Import project JSON in this name tag tool. Do not use another tool’s project file. Importing does not save automatically; choose Save on this device if you want a browser copy. Imported files are read locally, not uploaded. Keep exported class lists and backups somewhere private.
