Student Artwork Labels
Give student work a clear title and artist credit. Make measured labels in batches, or use full-page artist statements for longer writing. No photo or contact details required.
Your entries stay in this browser. Nothing is saved until you choose Save on this device. No student accounts, uploads, or connection to old tool data.

PNG pages use 300 pixels per inch. Multiple downloads may require browser permission. PDFs contain high-resolution page images; text is not selectable.

Review before replacing
Artwork credits that are ready for the wall
- Add each artwork’s title and the artist’s display name. For a batch, map columns in your CSV and review the import before applying it.
- Choose a 6 × 4-inch museum label, a 3.5 × 2-inch compact label, or a full-page artist statement. Class, medium, and year stay hidden unless you choose to include them.
- Check the physical size and page count, then download the full PDF or 300 dpi PNG pages. Cut labels from plain paper at Actual size.
Printing and privacy questions
Can I use Letter or A4?
Yes. Choose your paper before printing. The preview and all downloads use the same page plan. Use Actual size rather than Fit to page for measured pieces.
Are entries uploaded or shared with the old tools?
No. This tool uses a separate, optional local library. It does not read, migrate, change, or delete old projects. Opening a website can still involve ordinary website requests; local processing does not make browsing anonymous.
What happens to a long artist statement?
A label that cannot fit all the writing is blocked, not truncated. Switch to Artist Statement to keep all text on clearly marked continuation pages. Each new artwork starts on a fresh sheet.
Do I need to upload a picture or add student contact details?
No. This is a label tool, not an image editor. It does not require photos, email addresses, phone numbers, or QR codes.

Import artwork labels and artist statements from a file
Prepare a whole art display in a spreadsheet. Download the artwork CSV template, with 12 fictional artworks and short sample statements. Each row represents one artwork, not one student. A student with two artworks should have two separate rows.
Fill out these artwork columns
title— required: the artwork’s title.displayName— required: the artist’s name as you want it printed.className— optional: the class or grade.medium— optional: the materials, such as Watercolor or Paper collage.year— optional: the year shown on the label.statement— optional: the artist’s own description or reflection. Put the complete statement in one spreadsheet cell, including any paragraph breaks. Do not put continuation text on a separate row.
Import, review, and choose labels or full pages
- Open the template in Excel, Google Sheets, or another spreadsheet editor. Keep the column headings and replace the fictional titles, artist names, and statements. Remove unused sample rows.
- Save or download as CSV UTF-8 (comma-delimited), ending in
.csv. The spreadsheet will handle commas, quotation marks, and line breaks inside cells. Excel workbooks (.xlsx), Word documents, PDFs, and photos cannot be imported directly. - Choose Import CSV in the content editor. In Review before replacing, match Artwork title and Artist name to the required columns. Match any optional columns you want, or choose Do not use. Review the total and the first five title–artist pairs.
- Choose Apply previewed import to replace the current artworks; this is not an append operation. Cancel leaves your work unchanged.
- For short credits, choose a museum or compact label. To print class, materials, and year, turn on Include class, medium, and year. For longer writing, choose Full-page artist statements: select an artwork in the writing pane, edit its text, and check its automatically continued pages.
- Check the preview before printing or downloading. Move one title to move all titles, or one artist name to move all artist names. Fonts, sizes, and colors apply to matching text sections; each artwork keeps its own words.
If the file or text does not fit
Use up to 100 artworks and a file no larger than 10 MB. Titles, artist names, and other short fields support up to 240 characters each; each statement supports up to 12,000 characters. Those are import limits, not a promise that the writing fits a small label. If a label cannot hold it, shorten the writing or switch to the full-page statement workflow; text is not silently cut off. Correct missing titles, missing artist names, or reported CSV line errors in the spreadsheet, then export and choose the file again.
CSV keeps the artwork text, not its layout. Use Export project to keep the words, selected format, typography, positions, and paper settings together. Reopen a compatible backup through Import project JSON in this artwork tool, not in the name tag or group tool. Files are read locally without an upload. Imports are not saved automatically; choose Save on this device for a browser copy and keep exported backups private.
