Preparing your cover…
Production files contain one full cover without guides, selection boxes or template overlays. RGB output is not CMYK or PDF/X certified. Confirm with your printer and order a physical proof. Save as PDF is available in the print dialog.
Updating the cover…Design once. Check the whole cover.
Choose the trim and printer measurements, then edit the front, back and spine. The PDF includes the entire cover in one continuous spread. The size check is a separate document; never submit it as the finished cover.
How is a KDP spine calculated?
Printed page count and interior paper determine the width. This tool uses the inch-based formulas in KDP’s cover guidance and the submission guidelines. It rounds odd page counts up to an even count, requires a template comparison, and omits spine text below 80 printed pages. Paper and trim limits vary; only the listed KDP combinations are supported.
Will this guarantee a printer accepts my cover?
No. The output uses local RGB rendering at 300 PPI. Your printer may require a different color workflow, template or production file. Check dimensions, text, image resolution and barcode position against the current template, then review a physical proof. Custom mode uses the spine and bleed you enter rather than a supplier formula.
What happens to my photos?
They remain in this browser session and are not uploaded. Text and crop settings can return as a local draft; use Save project to download a backup including original photos. A missing photo blocks production output until restored. Start over clears this tool’s saved draft after confirmation.
