I made the aging marks stay put.

The grain and scratches do not jump around while you move a slider. That makes small adjustments much easier to judge.

The difference is in the wear

Old color is only half the story.

01

Decade presets

Silent film goes nearly black-and-white with heavier damage. The later looks keep more color and trade scratches for fading.

02

Stable texture

Film grain and scratches are generated from the photo itself, so they stay in the same place while you fine-tune the strength.

03

Full-size download

The preview stays light and responsive. When you download, the tool rebuilds the effect at the photo’s original dimensions, up to 32 megapixels.

Straight answers

Before you send it back in time.

Do I need to click a generate button?

No. The preview updates as soon as you choose a decade or move a slider. Download is the only separate step because that is when the effect is rendered at high resolution.

Does my photo get uploaded?

No. The photo is decoded and edited in this browser tab. HandyPebble does not receive, view, or store the image.

Which image formats work?

JPG, PNG, and WebP work in current desktop and mobile browsers. The finished image downloads as a high-quality JPG, which is easy to share and print.

Why does the downloaded image take longer than the preview?

The live preview uses a smaller working copy so every slider feels immediate. The download is rebuilt from the full-resolution photo. Very large images may be scaled down to stay within a browser-safe 32-megapixel limit.

What makes a convincing old-photo effect?

Use less than you think. Start with a decade, then adjust one or two things. Heavy warmth, grain, scratches, fading, and vignette all at once can look more like a filter than an aged photograph.

Will the tool change my original photo?

No. The original file on your device is never overwritten. The tool creates a separate JPG download, so keep the original and compare both before sharing or printing.
