You can check names, paths, sizes, and selections before the browser creates another file. Less mystery, fewer accidental folders named “final-final-2.”
Good to know
ZIP only in this first version.
This tool creates and opens standard ZIP files. It does not open RAR, 7Z, password-protected, or encrypted archives yet. Those formats need different compatibility and security work, and I’d rather label that honestly than give you a button that only works sometimes.

Are my files uploaded?
No. Files are read, compressed, opened, and downloaded by your browser on this device. The page itself still loads from the web, but your selected files are not sent to HandyPebble.
Can I add an entire folder?
Yes. Use “Add a folder” and the tool keeps the folder structure inside the ZIP. Browser security does not reveal the folder’s full location on your computer.
Why can a large ZIP use so much memory?
Browser tools work in memory instead of writing temporary archive pieces across your drive like a desktop program can. A large job may need more than twice the listed file size in free memory.
Does “Smallest” always make a smaller ZIP?
No. Photos, videos, and many PDFs are already compressed, so another compression pass may barely change them. Smallest helps most with text, spreadsheets, and other compressible files.
Can it open a password-protected ZIP?
Not in this version. Encrypted and password-protected ZIP files are rejected instead of being partially or incorrectly opened.
What does the reset button clear?
It clears only the saved compression choice and returns it to Balanced. It does not delete any file on your device. You will be asked to confirm first.
