Camera-assisted paint matching

Color Mixing Assistant

Compare a real paint mix with the color you are trying to match. The assistant measures the visible difference and gives you one small, practical adjustment at a time.

Your live camera stays on this device. Frames are sampled in this browser and are never uploaded.

Compare both colors live

Start the camera, then drag one point onto the target and the other onto your mixed paint.

A steady way to work

Match real paint without pretending the camera is a lab.

01

Keep both colors in view

Set the target sample beside the paint you are mixing, then start the live camera. No photo is taken or uploaded.

02

Move the two sample points

Drag the blue point onto the target and the green point onto the current paint. The browser averages both areas and updates the comparison continuously.

03

Make one small change

You get one conservative suggestion—white, red, yellow, blue, or a cautious touch of black. Mix thoroughly, check again, and stop when the real paint looks right.

Good for practical studio work

Use Color Mixing Assistant when you are matching a wall touch-up, repeating a craft color, adjusting an acrylic or tempera mix, or trying to get closer to a physical reference. It is designed for artists, teachers, DIY painters, prop makers, and anyone who wants a more consistent next step than guessing.

This tool is intentionally different from a screen-only color picker and contrast checker. It compares two real colors together in one live camera view and shows immediately whether the mix is moving closer.

Camera guidance, not a paint formula

Lighting, wet-versus-dry color, pigment strength, surface texture, and the phone camera can all change the reading. Treat the suggestion as visual guidance. Add less than you think, mix completely, let a test patch dry when that matters, and judge the final color in the room where it will be used.

No account is required. Live camera frames, settings, and the current session remain in this browser. For nearby color and image work, try the Color Picker & Contrast Checker, Vintage Photo Maker, or Text & Quote Card.

Help

Get a steadier reading

How it works

Keep the target and mixed paint in the same live camera view. Drag the blue point over the target and the green point over the paint.

Better lighting

Use soft, even light from the side. Avoid direct sun, strong reflections, and mixed warm and cool lamps.

Better sampling

Keep each circle over one smooth patch of color. On a phone, use a stand so the camera stays steady and safely away from wet paint and rinse water.

Why paint may behave differently

Real pigments are not screen pixels. Opacity, binder, surface, drying, and pigment strength change the result. Use the suggestion as a careful next move, not an exact recipe.
