Windows 0.3.2 compatibility notes

This release targets Windows 10 and Windows 11 x64. Physical two-PC takeover and Windows 11 have not been verified for 0.3.2. Clicking or typing through the effects in other apps has not been verified either. Mouse sharing currently uses the primary display.

Do not rely on carrying a held key or mouse button across the edge; seamless cross-PC dragging is not supported.

Clipboard and file compatibility between Windows 0.3.2 and Intel Mac 0.2.3 has not been verified. For a mixed Windows/Mac setup, you can keep using Windows 0.2.3 and Mac 0.2.3.

One connection. Your usual copy and paste.

A folder stays on the left computer while a checked copy appears on the right computer, connected by a local transfer arrow.

  1. Install on your computers

Use the same private Wi-Fi or Ethernet network. On Windows, allow Private network access if the firewall asks. On Mac, allow Local Network access if macOS asks.

  2. Connect once

Open PebblePaste on both computers. Select the other device, compare all six digits, and allow the connection on both screens. Trusted devices reconnect automatically unless you turn that off.

  3. Resume sharing

Turn sharing on for both computers. Only new copies are shared; the clipboard you had before enabling sharing is not sent.

  4. Copy here, paste there

Copy text or a link in any app. For files and folders, use File Explorer on Windows or Finder on Mac. Keep both computers connected with sharing on until copying finishes.

Using more than two computers? Pair each destination directly. A new local copy goes to every connected computer, while one slow or disconnected device does not stop the others.

Local files. Clear boundaries.

Direct and encrypted

Copied items travel directly between computers you approved on your local network. No cloud file storage, account, or internet connection is needed for local copying.

Every destination must be paired directly with the source. PebblePaste does not relay a received clipboard item through another computer.

A temporary local copy

Received files are kept in the app’s private local cache so your operating system can paste them. These are local disk copies, not a clipboard history. Keep PebblePaste running to use the current selection; older unreferenced copies are cleaned up.

It is always a copy, never a move. Pause sharing before copying anything you do not want another connected computer to receive.

A few useful answers

Can I change the language?

PebblePaste follows your system language automatically. In Settings, choose a language or return to Automatic at any time. Your choice stays on this computer.

The app supports English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French, German, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Arabic, and Hindi. Other system languages use English. The Windows setup wizard remains in English.

Do I have to pick a receiving folder?

No. Once the file selection reaches the other computer, open the destination folder in File Explorer or Finder and paste there.

Can I close the window?

Yes. PebblePaste can keep running from the Windows system tray or Mac menu bar. Use Settings to change its background behavior, or choose Exit PebblePaste to stop sharing completely.

What if one connection drops?

That computer goes offline without closing your other connected sessions. Reconnect it, resume sharing on both sides, then copy the item again. An interrupted file copy restarts instead of resuming halfway through a file.

Are there limits on file and folder names?

When Windows is involved, paths within the copied selection must be shorter than 260 characters, including folder names. An incompatible selection is rejected instead of silently changing its names.

Can I copy a shortcut, junction, alias, or cut selection?

Ordinary shortcut files can be copied as files. Folder junctions, aliases that leave the selection, and other linked directories may be rejected instead of following them somewhere unexpected. A cut selection is treated as a copy; PebblePaste never deletes the originals.

Does it copy formatted articles or support phones?

PebblePaste copies plain text and links, files, and folders. Windows and Intel Mac downloads are available; see the version compatibility notes above. Rich text, clipboard images, phones, Windows 7, and a native Apple silicon build are not supported.

Does update checking run in the background?

No. Help → Check for updates makes a request to HandyPebble only when you choose it. It does not download or install an update. Older Windows copies may not offer 0.3.2 through that check; use this page’s Windows 0.3.2 download link to update. Feedback opens a separate web form and sends only what you choose to submit.

Something not working?

Check the version compatibility notes above and use the same private network. For Windows keyboard and mouse sharing, use 0.3.2 on both PCs. For an existing Windows/Mac setup, the 0.2.3 downloads remain available. Guest networks, VPNs, and workplace rules can prevent nearby connections.

Send a private note about PebblePaste. Tell me the app version, operating systems, processor type, and the steps that went wrong. Please do not include private files or clipboard contents.
