This creates a geometric mosaic from one photo, not a collage made from hundreds of other photos. Transparent mode leaves the gaps and outer padding clear.

How to use Photo Mosaic Maker

  1. Open a photo. Flowers, landscapes, and colorful everyday objects make appealing tile art. The sample starts with a flower photo.
  2. Choose a tile shape. Switch between squares, circles, staggered hexagons, rounded tiles, and edge-to-edge pixels. Pixel Art has no spacing or border; Corner radius applies only to Rounded Tiles.
  3. Build the palette. Keep the photo colors or try a warmer, cooler, pastel, vintage, or monochrome look. Simplify colors limits tile fills to the selected maximum. Borders and the background are separate colors.
  4. Save the artwork. PNG preserves transparent gaps when you choose Transparent. JPG puts those gaps on white. Downloads keep your photo’s pixel dimensions, including the padding area. Letter and A4 printing fit the complete design without stretching.

Printing tips

Choose US Letter or A4 and use the same paper in your printer dialog. Print at Actual size / 100%, with browser headers and footers turned off. Make a test print before printing a batch. A small source image cannot gain detail by being enlarged.

Privacy and supported photos

JPG, PNG, and WebP photos are processed in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. Each photo can be up to 15 MB and 16 megapixels, with a maximum side length of 10,000 pixels. Download your work before closing the page.

Frequently asked questions

Can this use many photos as mosaic tiles?

No. It samples one photo and draws geometric colored tiles. Use Photo Layout Maker or Image Collage Maker to arrange multiple photos.

Does Maximum tile colors include the border?

No. It limits tile fill colors when Simplify colors is on. The background and border are separate; antialiasing at tile edges also creates blended pixels.

Why are some controls unavailable for a style?

Pixel Art uses flush square pixels, so spacing and borders do not apply. Corner radius changes Rounded Tiles only.

Can I make a transparent mosaic?

Yes. Select Transparent and download PNG. The gaps between tiles and any outer padding stay transparent.

Can I undo changes?

Undo and Redo keep the last 30 settings changes for this photo. Reset this style restores the current style’s defaults. Replacing a photo starts a new history.
